Search Engine Optimization In Action
The following is an example of how search engine optimization can change the traffic your site sees on a weekly basis. These are numbers taken from and actual client, the goal was to increase the search engine traffic to over 30% (preferably a number around 33%.)

This particular client utilizes both web and print advertising, with the analytical data we supply them weekly and monthly they are able to determine just how their advertising dollars are working. In this particular data set you can see that the majority of traffic is "Direct" from print advertising. This makes sense considering this company advertises primarily in print. Some of the traffic is coming from referring sites which this company advertises with. Ideally this number should be around 33% along with search engine traffic, however this is determined again by how much of the advertising budget goes to web versus print advertising.
The real important number to keep in mind here is the search engine traffic over this four week period. When this campaign started there was a very clear goal set, to make the search engine traffic as close to 33% as possible. You will notice that by week three we had passed our goal, but that is not necessarily a good thing. By week four we were able to bring the number back down to within .56% of our goal.
